Day 62 - Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

It's important for athletes to eat properly, so I forayed with fellow TNDC stalwart Rory "Razor Sharp" Wilson at lunch-time to nearby Doyle's Tavern for a sumptuous yet balanced meal of lasagne, salad and (ahem) ultra-healthy chipped potatoes. It put us both in excellent stead for the evening's proceedings, which saw an improved attendance of six athletes, and history was made when Austin "The Iceman" McEvoy became only the 9th player in Thursday Night Dart Club's 75 stagings to lift the TNDC title on the night, edging out defending champion John "The Equaliser" Delaney. Highlight of the night was his 67 finish, and once again the most popular game of the evening was Reverse Lives, where everyone starts with 5 lives with a life lost if you fail to score LOWER than the previous player. Sounds easy but the difficulty is that you score 45 for every dart that falls outside the board, or bounces out.

It only remained to totter home on what was a fine crisp and dry night, with the National Convention Centre looking particularly lovely.

Zombie Austin gets congratulated by the Delaneys and Zombie Niall

Further congratulations for the now somewhat de-zombified champ

So stilly greeny at the heart of winter - can you name the poet that I'm bastardizing?
