Day 90 - Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Personal spirits were ultra-high this evening as time-in-lieu from last week's professional sojourn in Guernsey meant that today would be the last day of toil until Tuesday - a 4-day weekend - huzzah! What better method to get such joy-filled times underway than with Thursday Night Darts Club at Doolan's? I for one certainly can't think of any. It was our first time to play on the autographed board donated by me, having been donated to me by the Professional Darts Corporation - it's all about sharing the darting love!

Enlarging the picture above will give a better view of the autographs which from right to left are Phil Taylor, Barrie Bates, Mark Webster, James Wade, Co Stompe and Raymond van Barneveld. And of Enda's pointed hand and corduroy jacket buttons, which is important too. As you can see, at this stage, I was significantly behind in the points race, but a storming 2nd half, bolstered by an epic Chicken and Mushroom pasta delivery from the Italian restaurant next door, and a number of further Guinnesses, each of which is Good For You, saw me take my first title for 10 months, prompting non-existent hordes of supporters to spill out onto Holles Place and dance wildly.

                                                               To the victor, the spoils......

Conquer, who had the temerity to attempt to prise the title from my grasp with victory against me in the final match, also had the following day off, prompting his splendid suggestion of a foray to swanky new cocktail bar Lafayette, where a number of their excellent bespoke product-lines were sampled, all of whose names I forget. Just beside O'Connell Bridge, it's well worth a visit, but do make sure that you're over 24, or the burly bouncers will enforce non-entry. It's also just beside Bloodbank House, affording a post-closure can for the road whilst viewing Armin van Buuren live in Holland on Conquer's giant projector screen - outstanding!
