Day 93 - Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

Due to the late hour of retirement, we were all in our comfy comfy beds when our scheduled 9.51am tee-time arrived. All except Danny the punctual and early-to-retire Swede, who tried to arouse us from slumber with texts and calls but the rest of us sub-consciously turned them off, apparently! Breakfast was negotiated successfully and surprisingly heartily, and after checking out we headed to Charleville Golf Club who kindly gave us a new tee-time, again at the low low price of €15 pr person.

It was a glorious day with the very slightest skite of precipition for a couple of minutes during the round - perfect conditions for the McCain's Loaded Potato Skins Challenge, with a pot of €1 per man per hole, and €2 per man for closest to the hole. For each of our €20 outlays, Danny The Deft amassed €33, Damo Bandicoot €29, Concacaf €13 and Inglese a paltry fiver! I putted like Puttley Puttingham, the puttrefying putting God, and my tee-offs are improving, but a series of poor mis-hits thwarted any prospect of my first sub-100 round, signing for 110.

Much-deserved sustainance was then served in the clubhouse, with a smoked chicken salad and roast turkey and ham with all the trimmings. Coupled with a lemon tart which was ordered "to go" as it was time to get on the road, the total price of €18.95 was very reasonable indeed. The waiting staff seemed surprised at receiving a tip - do they not give such monetary rewards in Cork?

With no traffic issues encountered on the way home, reunification with The Lighthouse was achieved by 8.30pm.

The robotic golf club trolley loved the walk around Charleville GC

Yours truly with one of his 320 yard powerhouse fairway drives
